Did you know that New River State Park host family activities almost every weekend? I was not aware of this! I know being the mom of two children, we will definitely be utilizing this opportunity!
This Saturday, July 13th, at New River State Park Hwy 221 Access Visitor Center they are hosting a tree identification class! 🌱🌿The event will be from 2pm to 3pm. Find out how to identify the common trees of the New River. Join Park staff in learning how to identify common trees of New River State Park. The leaves will finally be "leafing out" along the 1 mile Fern Nature trail at the Wagoner Access of New River State Park. Meet at the Park office at 2 pm. Bring binoculars for spotting leaves and Spring tree dwellers. For more information call 226-982-2587. Program time may vary.
Also, on this Saturday, from 2pm to 3pm at the visitor center, they are having Slithering Scales. This is the ‘Year of the Snakes’ at NC State Parks. Snakes are fascinating animals, but if you were to find a shed skin in your yard, could you tell if it came from a venomous snake? Join a ranger to learn this and a whole lot more! We will talk about the common snakes of the High Country & the difference between venomous & non-venomous snakes. Program time may vary.
